Doris (Shunang) Maxie King, 89, of Jacksonville, Fla., passed away on Monday, April 8, 2019.

She was born Nov. 6, 1929, in Many, La., to the late Effie Mae Baker Maxie and Earl Maxie.

Doris was predeceased in death by her brothers, Robert Lee Maxie, Dr. Earl Kenneth Maxie and William Andrew Robinson, as well as her husband, Lonnie James King.

She leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted son, Robert James King (Bernita) of Hawthorne, Calif.; two granddaughters, Réyna King Polk (Craven) of Emeryville, Calif., and Réynda King of Hawthorne; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Robinson of Jacksonville, Fla., and Eunice Samuels Lewis, Esq., of Trenton, N.J.; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Alma Sutton, Mrs. Louise Walton of Miami and Mrs. Laverne Robinson of St. Marys; a godson, Kenneth Taylor of St. Simons Island, GA, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, including the Maxie and Garner families of Many, La., the Baker and Nightingale families from Camden County, and the Miller family from Winston-Salem, N.C.

A viewing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 26, at James Graham Mortuary, 3631 Moncrief Road, Jacksonville, FL 32209.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27, at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, 1365 Kinlaw Road, Kingsland, GA 31548 with Pastor Leon Washington officiating. Bishop A. Dawson of Georgia Avenue Church of God will deliver the eulogy. A committal service will be held in Many, La.
