James Michael Hannaford, 65, of Folkston passed away Nov. 19, 2018, in Brunswick following a brief illness.
He was born June 11, 1953 in Jacksonville, Fla. He was a graduate of Charlton County High School and Mercer University. He received dual master’s degrees from the University of Kentucky. Mr. Hannaford had been employed as a professor of English and German for the past 25 years at the College of Coastal Georgia.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Barbara P. Hannaford; his parents, J.O. and Jackie Hannaford; three loving stepchildren, Maggie Tucker, Michael (Jamie) Tucker and Ashley (Michael) Hughes; a sister, Jeanne (Don) Crews; and six grandchildren, Jordan Rowe, Cain Drury, Lilly Tucker, Grayson Tucker, Graham Hughes and Nolan Hughes.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, at the First Baptist Church of Folkston with William Garlen officiating. Memorialization will be by cremation.
Donations may be made in Michael’s honor to the James M. Hannaford Memorial Scholarship at College of Coastal Georgia or the Southeast Georgia Health System Nunnally House.
