
Joe Davis Ammons, 60, of Kingsland passed away Friday, Nov. 2, 2018, at UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla.
Joe was born on Oct. 17, 1958, in Palatka, Fla. He began his life in Camden County in 1977 working for Gilman Paper Company. He worked there until it closed in 2002. He most recently worked as a delivery truck driver for Lowes in Kingsland. Anyone who met Joe quickly realized that he was a hard worker who loved to laugh. Outside of work Joe liked to fish, travel, ride his motorcycle and spend time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda R. Ammons; his father and mother, Dargan L. and Ethel N. Ammons.
He is survived by his fiancee, Lynn Panzone of St. Marys; daughters, Misty (Darrell) Boggs of Waverly and Ashley (Derrick) Bratcher of Kingsland; two grandchildren, Elijah Boggs and Lainey Boggs; sisters, Rosanna (Billy) Hope of St. Marys and Sandy (Hubert) Aldridge of Kingsland; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Allison Memorial Chapel and Funeral Home of St. Marys. Graveside services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Lawnwood Cemetery in Kingsland with Pastor Christopher Ogden and Pastor Martin Turner officiating. Pallbearers will be Gene Hope, Shane Hope, Ashanti Smith, Karel Elliott, Lee Turner and Elijah Boggs.
Allison Memorial Chapel and Funeral Home of St. Marys is in charge of arrangements.
