
Mamie Lou Holzendorf, 99, of Kingsland passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019, at her home surrounded by her family.
Mamie Lou Melton Holzendorf was born in Yulee (Sandhill Community), Fla., on Feb. 16, 1920, to the late Ido and Ida Alderman. She receiver her education in the public schools of Nassau County in Florida.
Mamie Lou would later marry James Allen Holzendorf on March 24, 1940, and spend 61 years of her life as his loving wife before his passing. Together they would own and operate the Venezula Club in Kingsland for many years, giving back to the community by sponsoring local athletic teams and contributing to other community activities.
To mourn her passing and celebrate her life, Mamie leaves behind her devoted daughter, Louise Holzendorf McBride; brother, Anthony Alderman; grandchildren, Lavonia (Sheena) Hutchinson, Kerwin, Terry and LaSheila Hutchinson, Ronda (Randy) Brown, Nadine Hutchinson, and Nakia McBride; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at First African Missionary Baptist Church. A wake will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Elmore-Wiley Cemetery, County Road 108, Sandhill Community in Yulee, Fla.
