Mildred I. Ellerson-Thomas, 81, of Woodbine passed away Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the Senior Care Center in St. Marys.

She was born on June 8, 1938, to the late Howard Ellerson and Margaret Johnson-Ellerson in St. Marys. She received her primary education at Ralph J. Bunche School and was a lifelong member of Jerusalem No. 1 Baptist Church in White Oak. Mildred was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, working puzzles and spending time with her family until her health began to fail.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sip Thomas; both parents, Howard and Margaret Ellerson Sr.; her son, Howard Ellerson Jr.; and two grandchildren, Lakeisha Wilson and Maurice Samuel.

Survivors include her children, Karen (Ernest) Edwards of Woodbine, Cynthia (Aaron) Walker of Meridian, Velencia Lidge of Tarboro, Martina (Cyrus) Roberts of Woodbine, Lynn Zow of Kingsland and Sheryl Parker of Woodbine; three sisters, Peggy (Kenneth) Smith of Kingsland, Venus Austin of Chicago and Margaret “Vi” Drummond of St. Marys; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Ellerson of St. Marys; 23 grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews cousins and close friends, Ollie Foreman and Sandra Myers.    

A public viewing will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at Allison Memorial Chapel, 10141 Colerain Road in St. Marys.

Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 26, at Jerusalem No. 1 Baptist Church, 300 Bailey Mill Road in White Oak. Interment in Oak Hill Cemetery in White Oak. 

Final arrangements entrusted to Royal Funeral Home Inc. in Jesup.

Tonimarie Monahan, 55, of St. Marys passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday, Oct. 18, 2019.

Mrs. Monahan was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and had made St. Marys her home since 2005. She was a member and participant in the Camden Quilt Guild.

Mrs. Monahan is survived by her husband, Steven Monahan of St. Marys; six children, Melissa Kinsell of St. Marys, John Monahan of St. Marys, Michael Monahan of St. Marys, Hannah Monahan of Woodbine, Jeff Marcil and family of Massachusetts, Rebecca Rubeck and family of Massachusetts; a granddaughter, Abagail Kinsell; her parents, Kathryn A. Redmond and husband John of Kingsland; numerous other family members.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorialization is by cremation.

Randy Eugene Wampler, 65, of Kingsland passed away Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019, at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick.

He was born in Abingdon, Va., to Eugene Pierce Wampler and Erma Jane Mowery Wampler. He and his father worked side-by-side for nearly 40 years as the owner/operators of Wampler’s Sunoco. After retiring from the family business, Randy and his wife of 33 years, moved to Kingsland where he took on a part-time job at Kings Bay Cinemas in St. Marys. Since he never met a stranger and was always up to chatting, this job gave him great pleasure. The rest of his free time was spent fishing, watching movies and making things for those he loved.

Randy is survived by his wife, Brenda Worley Wampler of Kingsland, and three children, Erica Parsons (Joe) of Virginia Beach, Va., Maranda Wampler (Gary) of Lexington, Ky., and Lisa Minton (Bill) of Kingsland. He was the proud Papaw of five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: Colton and Caleb Parsons, Addisyn Wampler, Alyssa Mimiaga and Kendall, Rowen, and Ezekiel Benjamin. He also leaves behind three sisters, Becky Bratton (Joey) and Kathy Vencill (Delmer Lynn) both of Lebanon, Va., and Donna White (Walter) of Abingdon, Va., as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Though his time on Earth may have been short-lived, the family takes great comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering and that he is rejoicing in Heaven with his daughter, Jessica Wampler, and his dad, who had both preceded him death.   

The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at the Antioch House of Prayer on North Fork River Road in Abingdon, Va., with the funeral services following. A brief burial service will be held for family and close friends at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, at Temple Hill Memorial Garden in Castlewood, Va.

The family would like to offer their thanks in advance to Rev. Ted Rasnake and Jason Nunley who will be preaching the service and recognize the following pallbearers: Scott Thompson, Jeremy Rhea, Adam Wampler, Mike Hughes, Don Hughes and Billy Wayne Wampler. Dewey Helbert, Johnny Mowery, and Tommy Bradley will serve as honorary pallbearers.

WALKER — Royal Lee Walker, Jr., 77, of Woodbine died Friday, Oct. 25, 2019, at Southeast Georgia Health System in Camden of complications from his long and courageous battle with cancer.

A native of Camden County, Mr. Walker lived his whole life on the banks of his beloved Satilla River.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Royal Lee Walker Sr. and Rebecca Morrow Walker, and two siblings, Marie and Shirley. In his earlier years, he was employed at Gilman Paper Company and later retired as a supervisor at Glynn County Public Works.

Mr. Walker was a charter member and supporter of the Woodbine Opry and seldom missed a performance until his health failed. He was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman and an expert hunter, tracker and marksman. Mr. Walker was a kind and generous man who was a friend to all and an excellent neighbor.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Schlegel Walker; four children, Melba Parrott, Roy Walker III, Kristy Shannon (husband Michael) and Misty Soldatis (husband Dennis); a stepdaughter, Jennifer Kruger; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four siblings, Jeanette, Debbie, Lynn and Jaynie; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. 

The family will hold a memorial at a later date. Memorial gifts may be made to Woodbine Opry, 205 Camden Ave., Woodbine, GA 31569.

Richard David Durham, 40, of Kingsland died Monday evening (Oct. 28, 2019) at Hospice of the Golden Isles after an extended illness.

Mr. Durham was born in Oceanside, Calif., to Richard Durham and the late Sharon LaVon Zetko Durham and had just recently moved to Kingsland. He was a Seattle Seahawks fanatic and could work the grill when entertaining family and friends at a barbecue. He enjoyed playing video games, especially Call of Duty, but his true passion was his family which he loved dearly and all the time he got to spend with them.

Mr. Durham served his country by joining the United States Navy where he served for 21 years making rank as senior chief. He was stationed all over the country from Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Oak Harbor, Whidbey Island, Groton, Conn., and would always look out for his men.

Mr. Durham is survived by his wife, Lynette Durham of Kingsland; three children, Naomi Durham, Kalicia Durham and RJ Durham all of Kingsland; his father, Richard Durham; five siblings, Cindy Bradly (husband Mark) of South Dakota, Mary Cohen of South Dakota, Sally Myrick (husband Bob) of California, Robert Durham (fiancee Mandy) of California, Randy Durham (wife Ashley) of Kingsland; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys. A reception for family and friends will follow at Christ Church in St. Marys. Pastor Romey Luke will officiate the service.

Charles (Chuck) Joseph Ingerson passed away in Kingsland on Oct. 28, 2019. Born Dec. 16, 1944, in Rochester, N.Y., he was the natural son of Joseph Ingerson and Flora (Peri) Boire, adopted by stepmother Helen Knapp.

He was a graduate of State University of New York, Oneota with Pi Gamma Mu National Honor Society honors in history and English. He had a long and distinguished employment in secondary education, state of New York with advanced professional certificate and college professor with the state of Maryland; state contracting officer; cost and price analyst; ethics officer; small business advocate; grants administrator; contract specialist for Department of Defense in Frederick, Md., and Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base. Honors and achievements include Greater Rochester, N.Y, Chamber of Commerce president, Irondequoit chapter, and National Contracts Management Association (NCMA) fellow with multiple published articles.

Chuck was especially known for his devotion to the national Red Cross, for whom he served for more than 60 years in the Philippines and USA; motivational speaker and business owner; avid wildlife photographer; daily golfer; founder and president for Vietnam Veteran College Students as well as a world competitive yacht sailor in his early life.

Chuck worked in the world of intel following his honorable service with the U.S. Navy. He served as a senior instructor at the noncommissioned officer academy, master sergeant. An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS, he served as Sunday school president, Kingsland stake high council greater than 20 years and employment specialist for his ward.

Chuck was predeceased by his parents, leaving behind his spouse, Joyce Rider of 50 years of marriage in addition to two sons, Dr. Marc-Charles (Sarah) Ingerson of Provo, Utah, and Morgen (Katherine) Ingerson of Hull, Ga., and three grandchildren. He is also survived by two siblings, Terry and Joanne, plus many friends from all walks of life.

No funeral will be held at his request. A simple military service will be held at his resting place of Utah Veterans Cemetery in Bluffdale, Utah.

Franklin Delano “Frank” Avery, 78, of St. Marys died Thursday morning (Oct. 31, 2019) at Community Hospice and Palliative Care in Fernandina Beach, Fla., after an extended illness. 

Mr. Avery was born in Stone Mountain to the late Harold George Avery Sr. and Maggie Francis Wells Avery and had made St. Marys his home for the past 20 years. He retired from Nokia, but was a managing supervisor for Southern Bell for many years. He enjoyed boating, fishing and any chance he could manage to get on the water. Mr. Avery loved his family and spending time with them. He was a member of First Baptist Church St. Marys.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Harold Avery Jr.

Mr. Avery is survived by his wife, Susan Nash Avery of St. Marys; two children, John Avery (Beth) of Newnan and Ken Avery (Melissa) of Daytona Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren, Wesley Avery, Dale Avery, Kathy Avery, Jonathan Avery (Rebecca) and Kelsey Gentry (Chris); three great-grandchildren, Addie Gentry, Lily Avery and Jules Avery; a sister, Arlene Downs of Stockbridge; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, in the Allison Memorial Chapel. The family will be receiving friends beginning at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Vernon Dillingham will be officiating.

YOUNT - Catherine “Kitty” Yount of Kingsland, Ga., passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2019 at Hospice of the Golden Isles, in Brunswick, GA, surrounded by her family.

She was a native of Louisville, Ky. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In her early career she was an x-ray technician before becoming a mother. In later years after the children were grown, she was a medicine assistant to the doctor of a private practice in Fort Myers, Fla. After retiring, “Nana” enjoyed time with her family. In the past she had been active in many charitable works, including, the Junior League; Garden Club; Lexington Ky. The Daughters of the King; St. Marys, Ga.

She was preceded in death by her parents, A. Scott Hamilton and Sue “Sid” Hamilton Rowell, also her step-father Richard Rowell.

Survivors include her husband, Barry Yount; a son Donald H Vish (Lisa); a daughter Daphne Sullivan (Russell); eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday Nov. 10 at Laurel Island Golf Club. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to Hospice of the Golden Isles; 1692 Glynco Parkway; Brunswick, GA, 31525 or Camden County Humane Society; P.O. Box 1270, Kingsland, GA, 31548, would be appreciated.

Floyce Lee Duncan Chauncey, 82, a resident of Camden County went home to be with her loved ones and her heavenly father Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019, at Gracemore Nursing Home in Brunswick under the care of Hospice of the Golden Isles. She had been in declining health over the last few months.

She was born Nov. 13, 1936, in Talbotton, the daughter of the late Crawford Duncan and Elizabeth Fuller Duncan. On Aug. 16, 1954, she married Marion N. Chauncey.

Surviving are three sons, Raymond M. Chauncey and wife Carol of Amelia Island, Fla., Richard W. Chauncey of Clayton, N.C., and Robert N. Chauncey and wife Julie of Henderson, Nev. Also surviving is one daughter, Penny D. Wilson and husband Chuck of Kingsland. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were three brothers (Clyde, Charles and Jimmy Duncan), and five sisters (Kate Tyre, Edna Duncan, Helen Pendarvis, Margie Holsey and Shirley Duncan), and she was the last of the siblings.

She was a graduate of Manchester High School in Manchester, Ga., and worked at several banks in Woodbine and Jekyll Island and Jacksonville, Fla. She was also a homemaker and was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a breast cancer survivor. She enjoyed cooking and baking and was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan. She loved puzzles, softball, baseball and most importantly being a nanny to her twin granddaughters (Jenna and Jillian Wilson) who were born on her birthday and the children of many family members and friends.

She was a great Southern lady who saw the good in everyone. She loved spending the holiday season with family and friends, whether it be decorating, shopping, cooking or baking.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at the Church of Jesus Christ LDS at 7665 Fort Caroline Road in Jacksonville. A private family burial was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, at Arlington Park Memorial Garden. Arrangements were handled by Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home.

Linda Lee Valasek Davie, 73, of St. Marys died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, at her residence after a brief illness.

Mrs. Davie was born in Kensington, Pa., to the late August and Sophia Valasek. She was a retired licensed practical nurse and served in that capacity for more than 25 years. She loved shopping, watching football and every minute she got to spend with her family. She was affectionately known as “Nee-Nee” and Aunt Linda by her loved ones. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two siblings, Thomas Valasek and Joyce Duffield, and a nephew, Stephen Davie.

Mrs. Davie is survived by her three children, James Christopher Davie and wife Karen, Jennifer Davie Kramer and husband Scott and Thomas Andrew Davie and wife Brittany; four grandchildren, Kara Kramer, Shaun Kramer, Rylan Davie and Crosslin Wilson; a former spouse, James Davie; her companion, John Booker; nieces and nephews, Tracie Lazenby, Salvatore Pizzo, Michael Pizzo, Denise Mager, John Duffield, Michelle Duffield, Susan Hart, Sharon Fendler and Sean Davie; and numerous other family members

Memorialization is by cremation

Kerry Elizabeth Underwood, the sunlight of our lives, left us on Nov. 6, 2019.

She brought joy and her free spirit to everyone her life touched. We will forever long to see her smile and hear her laugh just one more time.

Her memory and beautiful personality will live on through her two beautiful children, Luna and Clyde; as well as her momma, Laura; steadfast sister, Aimee; protective brothers, Cody Lee and Ryan;  her two loving sisters-in-law, Casey and Allexis; and brother-in-law Stacy. Her light will also shine through her many nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, in the Allison Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Clarence Belmont Wallace, 86, of Orlando, Fla., passed away Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019. 

Clarence was born March 22, 1933, in Perkins, Ga., to Laurie and Lillian Wallace.

Clarence is survived by his daughter, Valerie Shultz (Stan) of Christmas, Fla.; his sister, Loretta Peeples of Woodbine; his two grandchildren, Joshua Shultz (Elizabeth) of Summerton, S.C., and Elizabeth Shultz of Winter Springs, Fla.; his two great-grandchildren, Danielle and Sadie Rose; and his nephews, Craig Peeples and Brian Peeples (Carolyn).

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine Wallace.

Gregory Wayne Spence, 63, passed away in St. Marys on Nov. 7, 2019.

He was born May 4, 1956, in Waycross to the late Gordon Lewis Spence and Jean Orrizell Crews Spence. Gregory was an outdoor person. He never played sports at school but he enjoyed watching the games, especially football. He enjoyed walking in the woods and being on the river.

Fishing with his father in the creeks of Camden County was one of his favorite things. Throughout his life, he maintained his fascination with the tides of those creeks. Even during the days when he was no longer able to fish, he wanted the driver to slow down so he could check out how low or high the waters were as he crossed the bridges over Borrell Creek on Highway 40. He usually checked on his way back home to see the changes in the flow.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Vicki L. Spence.

He is survived by his aunts, Leola Crews, Leona Brisbane and Anita Turner; an uncle, Verldon Spence; cousins, Sharon Spence Allen, Iris Turner, Gail Faucette, Donna Drury, Sherri Cox, Lori Avery and Pam Prevatt; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, in the chapel of Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home with Rev. Parnell Aldridge officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Homeland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brandon Drury, Josh Owens, Jessica Drury, Brian Avery, Tommy Faucette and David Prevatt.

Aaron Patrick Powers, 25, of Woodbine died unexpectedly Oct. 24, 2019, at UF Health hospital surrounded by his family.

He is the cherished and beloved son of Paul and Barbara Powers with loving sisters, Kristine Hammett (Robert), Jody Warwinn (Mark) and big brother, Will Powers; adored uncle to Jaxson Powers and Lyla Hammett; admired by his maternal grandparents, Hutson and Ann Smith of Huntington, Ind., and paternal grandparents, the late William and Della Powers of Fernandina Beach, Fla.

Mr. Powers was born Dec. 26, 1993, in Huntington, Ind., and made Woodbine his home for the past 21 years. He enjoyed being with his family the most and anything to do with his home life as well as movies and talking about actors and laughing continuously about memorable movie lines. He enjoyed presidents and politics and his Nana’s watercolor paintings.

Aaron and his brother Will took over their father Paul’s successful landscaping business and were fortunate enough to be a strong brotherly team that took care of each other and built a client base with trust, respect, friendships and integrity.

Aaron was such a joy, a loving, caring, fun person who made everyone laugh and feel happy. He loved his niece and nephew, swimming in his pool, his beloved dog Rocky, cooking with his mother, playing video games, his friends and meeting new people.

The only thing his family didn’t expect was how to live without Aaron but all he needed was what thy hands hath provided. Great is thy faithfulness, thy will be done.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at Southeast Community Church located at 790 May Creek Drive in Kingsland.

Beverly Anne Pittman Bennett, 60, passed away Nov. 7, 2019.

She was a graduate of Camden County High School, class of l977, and a member of St. Marys United Methodist Church.

Beverly was predeceased by her father, Bobby Pittman of Hawthorne, Fla.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Richard Bennett of St. Marys; sons, Gregg and Brooks Bennett, both of St. Marys; her mother, Mary Beth Pittman of Hawthorne, Fla.; sister, Susan James (Ned) and brother, Ricky Pittman (Ann), both of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at St. Marys United Methodist Church with Rev. J. Roy White and Martin Turner officiating. Visitation will at 1 p.m. prior to service at St. Marys UMC. Arrangements by Coastal Camden Funeral Home of Kingsland.  

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.

Deloris was born in Brunswick to the late Benjamin Smith and Ola Mae Jordan Smith on Aug. 27, 1945. She was the third of five daughters born to this union. Deloris was educated in the public school system of Camden County, graduating in 1963 from Ralph J. Bunche High School. 

In 1966, Deloris married her one true love, Dean C. Attaway, Sr. This loving union brought forth five beautiful children: Vonda, Dean Jr., Bryan, Cris and Dana. She worked for 21 years at Gilman Paper Company in St. Marys and retired after working 10 years with Nassau County Board of Education. 

She was a devoted member and appointed church mother of Wheeler Street Church of God in St. Marys. Deloris loved to cook, sew and spend time with family and friends. She cherished her time and phone calls with her best friend, the late Janie Jenkins, and two special sisters-in-law, Carolyn Attaway and Diane Vincent.

Deloris departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2019, at Community Hospice & Palliative Care in Jacksonville, Fla. She is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Ola Mae Smith; husband, Dean C. Attaway Sr.; sisters, Luvenia Brown (Isaiah), Mary E. Jones (Robert), Bennie Mae James and Jeanette Smith; and son-in-law, Joseph L. Pinkney Sr.

Deloris is survived by her children, Vonda Perry (Keith) of Savannah, Dean Attaway Jr. (Catina) of Kingsland, Bryan Attaway (Jenifer) of Kingsland, Cris Attaway (Melissa) of St. Marys, Dana Pinkney (Joseph) of Kingsland and one godson, Anthony Lemons (Lynette) of Little Rock, Ark.; 18 grandchildren, Ryan, Sherrica, Tierra, Keith, Dean III, Byran, Katlyn, Joseph Jr., Jared, Bryan Jr., Lauryn, Camryn, Ashland, Joshua, Donovan, Isaiah, Reece and Kymbreah; six great-grandchildren, Brendyn, Melodie, Zariya, Omari, Hendrix, Mya and Cassius; as well as a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

There will not be a wake or visitation. Remains laid in state one hour prior to services on Monday morning.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at Wheeler Street Church of God, 900 Wheeler St. in St. Marys. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.

Terrance (Terry) Fish, 77, passed away peacefully at his home in St. Marys with his daughters by his side on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019. His beloved wife, Jackie Denis-Fish and parents, Jeremiah and Nelly, predeceased Terry.

He was born on Oct. 31, 1941 in North Stonington, Conn. He attended Norwich Free Academy until he left to enroll in the U.S. Army. He was in the military for six years and was a sharp shooter rifleman and an airborne ranger completing more than 300 jumps.

He was honorably discharged to move back home and spend time with his family in Connecticut. He earned a Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal second award and Sharpshooter Badge Rifle M-14. He retired from General Dynamics, Electric Boat Division in 2007.

In his spare time, he loved photography, drawing, cooking delicious meals, gardening and spending time with his family. He married his soulmate, Jackie Denis, on July 21, 1962, in Jewett City, Conn. 

Terry will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Candy Fish, Kim (William) Trantalis, Stacey (Rick) Mendez and Michelle Fish; grandchildren, Danielle (Dan) Mikulak, Jennifer Trantalis, Ashlynn (Zack) Highsmith, Charlene Storey and Anthony Storey; and great-grandchildren, Ayden, Kaleb and Evelynn Highsmith and Olivia Mikulak.

A celebration of life will be held in Jewett City, Conn., in 2020.

Elmodest “Marty” Gibbswas born on Nov. 15, 1965, to the late Bertis Garner and Mose Gibbs in Folkston. Elmodest grew up in Silco and was educated in the Camden County public school system. 

He passed away on Monday, Nov. 11, 2019, at Southeast Georgia Healthcare System in Brunswick.

He was preceded in death by both parents; one sister, Mosella Gibbs; and two brothers, Frank and Henry “Leon” Gibbs.

He leaves to mourn his passing seven sisters, Idell (Roger) Mackey, Diane Garner, Sadie Rhone, Cheryl (Cornelius) Mobley, Sherri (Kenneth) McClendon, Lizzie Mitchell and Gussie Gibbs; three brothers, Oliver (Willeva) Strickland, Mayfield (Barbara) Garner and Tommy Garner; two children, Markia Gibbs and Martez Buie; one grandson, Denim Best; three devoted friends, Maurice Sullivan, Mark Geter and Aaron Hamilton; in addition to a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, sorrowing friends and acquaintances.

There will not be a wake/visitation. Remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral services.

 Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at Camden Avenue Church of God on Camden Avenue in Woodbine. Interment in Woodbine Cemetery.

Dennis James Addy, 58, passed away Nov. 17, 2019. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home.

Mr. Addy was a native of St. Marys but had made his home on Lake Sinclair for more than 20 years. He worked in the banking industry for more than 30 years. He worked with First National Bank and was currently served as branch manager of the Bank of the Ozarks. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Addy. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan.

Survivors include his daughter, Kaitlyn Addy of Milledgeville; his mother, Audrey Taylor Clark; his brother, Gary Addy and his sister, Donna Lewis, all of St. Marys; two grandchildren, Aubrey Lynne Sammons and Aiden James Sammons.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 1 until 2 p.m. at Moores Funeral Home.

Moores Funeral Home & Crematory has charge of arrangements.

Winnie Thomas, 87, of Palmetto, Ga., died Saturday evening, Nov. 16, 2019, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin following an extended illness.

Born in Waynesville, she was the daughter of the late Robert Roy and Coyla Rhoden Drury. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Roberta Colson and Jaurelle Berlin; and brother, Eugene Drury.

She was a 1948 graduate of Brantley County High School and retired as secretary to the commanding officer at Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base in 1987.

She, alongside her husband, Lyde, grew Christmas trees and blueberries in Woodbine and Hoboken for many years. She was active in the Georgia Christmas Tree Association, the Georgia Blueberry Growers Association and the Camden County Chapter of the American Cancer Society and for many years was an active member of Kingsland First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Sherry Strang Carter (Ervin) of Palmetto; grandson, Andy Carter (Aimee) of Macon; granddaughter, Jenny Carter Wallace (Jordan) of Palmetto; great-grandson, Carter Wallace; stepson, Terry Thomas (Alice); grandsons, Justin Thomas and family, Eric Thomas and family, of College Station, Texas, and stepson Steve Thomas of Darien; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at Homeward Cemetery near Waverly.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601 or the Parkinson's Foundation, 200 S.E. First St., Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131
