Hayle Douglas (H.D.) Bell Jr., 78, passed away at his home in Kingsland on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019.
Formerly of Lynchburg, Va., he was the son of the late Hayle Douglas Bell Sr. and Birdie Newton Bell.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Miller Bell of Kingsland; sister, Sandra Lindsay of Lynchburg; his daughters Melynda Cash (Carlton) of Forest, Va., and Kristin Hipps (Jodi) of Alexandria, Va.; and his son H. Doug Bell III (Susan) of Moncks Corner, S.C., as well as five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was a devoted family man and retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation with more than 30 years of service. H.D. was also a proud veteran with more than 30 years of service to the United States Navy.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. May 4 at Southeast Community Church, 790 May Creek St. in Kingsland. Family visitation will be held immediately following at the church.
