Kimberley Hambrough Quintanilla, 57, of St. Marys left this earth to be present with the Lord in the early morning hours on Oct. 20, 2016, after her brief bout with cancer.
Kim was born on May 28, 1959, in Stoughton, Mass. She graduated from Brockton High School in Brockton, Mass., in 1977, and attended Bridgewater State College in Bridgewater, Mass. She spent a great deal of her childhood enjoying her summers in Marion, Mass.
Kim loved working with children and spent many years of her life pursuing her passion in teaching preschool children until her son Daniel was born, where she devoted her life raising him. Upon becoming an empty nester, Kim enjoyed being an interpretative guide at Orange Hall for six years.
Kim was a very loving, devoted and compassionate wife and treasured the past 35 years together with her husband “Quint” growing closer together and closer to God. They spent an immeasurable amount of time with each other, always doing different things together, from shopping to going to auctions. They loved to travel and cherished their many adventures traveling the United States, from New England to Hawaii.
Kim’s love for her son was unconditional and was evident from the moment Daniel was born. She was actively involved with all of his extracurricular activities, enjoying the time she spent with him and becoming his ultimate role model and hero.
Kim was a very warm and thoughtful person who always put others before herself. Regardless of whatever was happening in her life, she always had a beautiful smile on her face. Her faith and character played an important role in the lives of every person that she touched.
Kim loved spending time with her church family and friends and participated in various ministries, including the Caring Hearts Ministry. She was a member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants through the lineage of Richard Warren.
Kim is survived by her loving husband Rene Quintanilla and her son Daniel R. Quintanilla of St. Marys; her mother Priscilla Pattangall Hambrough of Hanover, Pa.; her sister Lesley Appleton (husband Glenn) of Kingston, N.H.; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and in-laws.
She was preceded in death by her father Oscar W. Hambrough Jr. of Hanover.
Kim will be greatly missed by her family and countless friends who adored her. A celebration of Kim’s beautiful life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at Point Peter Baptist Church in St. Marys.
Kim’s arrangements are by Coastal Camden Funeral Home in Kingsland.
