Robert Lee Farris, 79, of St. Marys passed away Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at UF Health Shands in Jacksonville, Fla.
Born Dec. 24, 1936, in Louisville, Ky., he was the son of the late William C. Farris Sr. and the late Leona Wittenauer Farris. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Virginia Farris; son, Robert Lee Farris Jr.; and brother, William C. Farris Jr.
Mr. Farris had been a resident of Camden County for the past 30 years and was retired from civil service at Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base. He was a member of the Kingsland First Baptist Church and was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Mr. Farris was a veteran of the United States Army, serving his country honorably during the Korean conflict.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys with military honors. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
Survivors include his children, David Shull (Diane), Debra Krauser (Steve), Wanda Hammack (Ron), Lynnette Coone (Don), Cheryl Cole (David), Chris Farris (Nettie), Joe Farris (Sharon), Ame McClain (Mitch) and Keith Farris; sister, Mary Ann Mullett; brother, Joseph Leo Farris Sr. (Sally); grandchildren, Jeremy Odon (Misty), Austin James and numerous other grandchildren and extended family.
The family requests contributions in memory of Mr. Farris be made to the American Heart Association.
