Morrison

Mr. Gary D. Morrison, 67, passed away Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, in the St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Jacksonville, Fla., following a brief illness.

Mr. Morrison was born June, 8, 1949, in Centre, Ala., to the late David Roy Morrison and Evelyn Eubanks Morrison. He was retired from CSX as a train dispatcher and was an avid college football fan especially Alabama. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kingsland and a veteran of the U.S. National Guard.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy Dale Morrison, Donald Wayne Morrison and Carl Morrison; and four sisters, Myrtie Johnson, Dorothy Wynn, Pauline Buttram and Ruth Morrison.

Survivors are his wife, Linda Smith Morrison of Kingsland; one daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Joel Trednick of St. Marys; one son, Bryan Morrison of Kingsland; a special grandson, Bryson Morrison of Kingsland; one sister, Sybil Guess of Homerville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Johnny Mack and Betty Morrison of Waycross and Jimmy and Linda Morrison of Homerville; two sisters-in-law, Connie Morrison of Argyle and Lavelle Morrison of Waycross; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mr. Morrison will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, at the First Baptist Church in Kingsland.

Interment was in the Carleton Cemetery in Kingsland.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, at the First Baptist Church in Kingsland. Mr. Morrison was carried to the church one hour prior to the services. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the coffee club and are asked to meet at the church at 10:30 a.m.
