Rosemary Stewart, 92, of Kingsland, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at the Senior Care Center in St. Marys.
Rosemary was born on Aug. 1, 1924, to the late William and Janie Linsey Stewart in Indianapolis. She received her bachelor’s degree at Indiana Central and went on to pursue and obtain a Ph.D. after moving to New York. Rosemary taught in the New York school system. Rosemary served as the president of her building’s corporation. She was instrumental in getting it co-opted. She was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.
Rosemary was a very giving person. She loved her family dearly. She would often share her wisdom and experiences with them as well as others. She enjoyed a healthy lifestyle and sharing her knowledge of nutrition. She enjoyed traveling and discussing current events.
She is preceded in death by her son, Dr. Bobbitti N. May.
Rosemary is survived by her sister, Blanche Stewart of Indianapolis; daughter-in-law, Deborah L. May; granddaughters, Rakia May and Briana May; great-grandson, Christopher May-Russell, all of Kingsland; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Sunset Funeral Home. Rev. Aaron Jefferson will officiate. Flowers and condolences may be sent to Sunset Funeral Home.
