
Tsugiko Prior, 83, wife of the late Arthur E. Prior, passed away Monday morning, Dec. 26, 2016, at her Presque Isle, Maine, home following an extended illness.
She was born Aug. 5, 1933, in Hiroshima, Japan, the daughter of Nobuyoshi and Kikuyo (Matsuyaki) Yamasaki. She was a survivor of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima on Aug. 6, 1945, and was married to Arthur E. Prior in 1964. Tsugiko became a resident of Freemont, Calif., where she resided for 30 years and also resided in St. Marys where she lived until moving to Presque Isle in 2014.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband and several siblings.
She is survived by three sons, John Prior and his wife Rimiko of Freemont, James Prior and his wife Sherry of Alameda, Calif., and Keith Prior of Bakersfield, Calif.; two daughters, Linda Parmelee of Presque Isle and Donna Prior Perry of Hayward, Calif.; two sisters, Keiko Tomeshima of Japan and Yachi Borden of Chula Vista, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will take place at Irvington Memorial Cemetery in Freemont. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Tsugiko to the American Society of Hiroshima and Nagasaki A-Bomb Survivors, 7101 Pelican Drive, Buena Park, CA 90620-1354.
